Slower Days

Scenes from my morning. School was cancelled and we were instructed not to leave our apartments unless it was an emergency. The roads are covered in ice so I am staying in today making bread, relaxing, sewing, and just enjoying time in the quiet and stillness.

Lately from a series of events as well as today being an ice day where most things are closed I have been forced to resort to a simpler way of living. I’m not saying I live a completely simple life…I wish I did where I wasn’t moving so fast because by second nature I tend to move at a fast pace. I was in a wreck two weeks ago and I’m borrowing my brother’s car at the moment but for a week I was without a car. I walked, carpooled with others, and pulled out my longboard. This made me realize I enjoy taking a walk to school and longboarding to the grocery store. I spent less money and put more thought into the planning of my days.

Even though it was only a week, it made me see the pros of just slowing down. I’m thankful that today I get to take things slow again and hopefully implement the slower pace into my daily lifestyle. When I get a car I hope to look back on these learning moments and put them into practice.

I hope you all stay safe today if you are facing icy weather, and if you are living in the warm sunshine just know I am jealous and craving spring and summer really bad.

Beautiful photos! And I agree, living simpler can be a pain, but it makes you step back and realize you enjoy it.

I am the same in that I am constantly doing something; that's just how things are. But I appreciate those days when something happens that changes all of my plans. Living slower and simpler does give you more opportunity to think about things and focus on the important things.
